Be Careful When You Read About a Liver Cirrhosis Diet Online

I know when you’re out doing a search for a liver cirrhosis diet, the first place you turn is the internet. And that’s the first place I turn for my research as well!

And most of the stuff you find is OK. I’ve talked about this before. Most of it is “eat healthy foods, avoid bad foods.” That’s great VERY general advice for all of us, but if you’re suffering with liver cirrhosis, then you certainly need something else to go on.

Now, when you’re searching on the web, you may find some conflicting information. For instance, is coffee good for someone with cirrhosis of the liver or not? I have read that’s it’s good. And I have read that it should be avoided.

There are studies being done about the effects of coffee on liver cirrhosis sufferers, and the studies are suggesting that liver cirrhosis may be prevented by drinking 4-6 cups of coffee per day.

However, if you’re someone who already has cirrhosis and you’re looking to alter your liver cirrhosis diet, then the recommendation is to avoid coffee, and caffeine in general. That’s because your liver has to work too hard to flush out those excess toxins.

Also, caffeine causes your body to flush out more fluid that what you consumed, therefore causing dehydration. And hydration is VERY important for every person out there, but especially for those with cirrhosis of the liver.

So, if you read that you should drink coffee, again, remember that it’s for the prevention of cirrhosis. In the meantime, drink up! With your water, of course! :)
