Favorite Baby Shower Games

Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most exciting things a woman will ever do and that is why women love to gather with the expecting mom, before the big day, to celebrate the upcoming birth with a joyful baby shower.  All baby showers have food, drinks and baby talk, but if you’re throwing a baby shower for a friend how about spicing it up by playing some fun games that will also teach the mom-to-be some things about motherhood and raising a baby.  Below are the top 4 baby shower games that will have every partier smiling and chatting while also providing mom-to-be with valuable information.

Game #1: Name Those Baby Items

(Materials needed: paper and pen for each participant, timer and prize)

Give each player a pen and paper.  Start the timer and give everyone 5 minutes to write down all the baby items they can think of such as: bottle, receiving blanket, diapers, wipes, crib bedding, pacifier, diaper bag, baby clothes and so on.  Let them know when they only have one more minute to go.  When the 5 minutes are up have each player count their items on the list and the one with the most gets a prize.

Hostess Responsibility: When the game is over the hostess should collect everyone’s paper and consolidate the items into one long list and give the list to the mom-to-be so she has a list of the items she’ll need when her baby arrives.

Game #2: Advice for Mom

(Materials needed: paper and pen for each participant and prize)

Tell each player to think of the best advice they ever got about parenting and have them each write one piece of advice for the mom-to-be.  Have each player write their name on the top of their paper and hand their paper to the hostess when they’re finished.  Have the hostess read each piece of advice out loud without stating who wrote it and have the group vote, with a show of hands, on the best advice given.  The player with the most popular motherhood advice wins the prize.

Hostess Responsibility: When the game is over the hostess should collect the advice papers and staple them together or write them all on one piece of paper and give them to the expecting mom.  This will give the mom-to-be some valuable tips about raising her baby.

Game #3: Guess the Baby Items

(Materials needed: basic baby items such as bib, pacifier, burp cloths, bottle, onesie, receiving blanket etc…pen, paper, blindfold and bag or box)

Place all of the baby items in a large bag or box.  Let the expecting mom look at the items in the bag or box.  Blindfold the mom-to-be and have her reach into the box and pull out a baby item.  Let her hold and feel the item and guess what it is.  The host should record how many she gets right.  As the mom-to-be’s prize, she gets hugs from as many party goers as answers she got right, as a congratulations hug for each correct guess.  Plus, women just love getting hugs!  Give the expecting mom the bag with all the items as a gift for playing.

Game #4:Baby Songs

(Materials needed: pen and paper, prize and timer)

Give each player a pen and paper.  Have everyone write down the name of as many baby songs they can think of within a 5 minute time frame.  When 5 minutes are up, have each person count their song list.  The person with the most songs gets a prize.

Hostess Responsibility: The hostess should collect all of the papers and consolidate the list and look up the lyrics on the Internet and print them out to create a baby song book for the expecting mom.  This way mom-to-be will have a full list of lullabies to sing her precious baby.
