How to Style the Fashion of Your Hair for a Modeling Portfolio Photograph Session

Hair Supervision and the Model Photography Sitting

Looking your greatest for a model photograph shoot is essential to getting great pictures. Now, this is not the end-all, but hair and makeup done right will help the photographgrapher do less editing after the sitting and you will look more natural in your pictures. As a female model, isn’t that the object you have in mind – to look alluring?

Hair styling

You can style your hair in many different ways but for your model picturegraphy session you’ll want to make sure your hair suits your facial features and will look great in your pictures. If you wear your hair short for instance, there are oodles short hair styles for teens.

Don’t overdo it

With that said, I don’t recommend that you have your hair cut at much of a difference before drawing near to your model portfolio session because most teens and women do not especially like the way their hair looks when they first leave the stylist. It is best to leave your hair the way you typically wear it with maybe a little variation to add to your facial features.

With that said, if you wear your hair long, you can pick from long and frizzed hair styles, wear it curled, layered or braided if you would rather. Just use your inventiveness and think outside the box. But, keep in mind that you still want to look like yourself in your female modeling pictures, not someone else.

Face type

The form of each person’s face is to some extent distinct. Some females have round faces, some are slender, some are angular in shape and others have softer appearance which means that you will want to use the facial features you have to get the most out of your look for your modeling pictures.

The hair style for different model types

Here are a few hair styling tips to help you decide how to wear your hair for your fashion model shoot …

- For a Rounded Face

You can slim down your round face and make it look longer by including a part on the side of your hair. If you are a little overweight or a plus size model this will also make your face look slimmer.

Thin faces

If your face is too thin you can increase curls or breadth on each side of the face. This will give your face a wider shape.

The nose

Is your nose a little larger than you would like for your profesional model photographs? No problem – just construct it smaller! If you have a full nose and want it to be less noticible you may want to use a fuller hairstyle or alter by giving the crown an upswept look. This will take attention away from the nose.

Sharp faces

For facial characteristics that have a sharp or angular look – Use lots of curls and waves to distract your chiseled cheeks. Also works well for your nose and jaw if they are too sharp.

High forehead

Plenty of today’s top models have a low forehead. Can you make yours lower before going to your photography shoot?

If you are like the tons of female teens and adults who have high foreheads, a simple resolution is to lower it by brushing your hair in bangs. This will give evenness to your face and the pretense of that “model” look.

Low forehead

My model picture sitting is tomorrow! What can I do about my low forehead?

Again, no worries. Just style and compose a fullness at the crown and use straight lines so that you lengthen your looks. You will look absolutely magnificent in your model pictures!

The strong chin

If you have a square chin and want it to be less noticible you may want to use a more full hairstyle at the crown. Now your chin will not be the focal point of the picture.

What about the narrow chin?

Yes, this is easy to correct! Just wear your hair longer and style it with a fuller look at the chin to round out the chin and face.

See what the camera sees

Just take a real look in the mirror and go over each of these ideas for the best results when you go for your modeling photograph sitting. You will look better than you could ever envision and, with a good, professional photographer behind the camera you will look like a million bucks when your session is done!

You’ll have dazzling, hot photographs to leave with model agencies and potential clients and you can use most of these hair tips in your routine makeup routine. So, the next step is to contact your photographer!!
