Shopping For Your Bridesmaids 101
You’re getting married, and aside from your own dress, you need to start thinking about your bridesmaids. A difficult task, no doubt. Each bridesmaid in your wedding party has a different type of body and taste in fashion. One dress for all? Impossible, you say!
If you think it’ll be way too difficult to shop for them, just follow these tips:
1. Even though you have to decide what they should wear, you can allow them a little freedom by letting them choose instead. But you are the bride, and don’t you forget it. Give them limits by saying what you’d like and not like in terms of color, style and cut. You can even limit the selection by choosing a few dresses at a bridal store, and making them choose from those instead of going through the entire inventory. Remember: you have the final say in what’s hot and what’s not.
To make their life easier, give them a photo of your wedding dress so that they can find something that’s complimentary.
2. Make each of your bridesmaids happy by choosing something that’s in a similar style, color or cut but compliments their body type and fashion sense. It might be a little more time consuming, but they’ll certainly appreciate your caring!
3. Go with two piece dresses, as they’re easier to alter should they require it. It’ll also avoid the problem of one pieces that are perfect on the bottom but ill-fitting up top (or vice versa).
4. Order all of your dresses to be dyed at one time. They should all go as one batch since if any variations in color occur, it will be consistent.
5. It takes time to shop and get dresses made. Factor in fittings and alterations, and you’ll need plenty of time to shop for your bridesmaid dresses. Order early to avoid disappointment!
