Yin Yang: A Brief Intorduction
Yin yang is a common symbol known all around the world. It is also a popular symbol used in decorating clothing, worn with accessories, and even on stickers. As popular as it is, its meaning is not commonly known. It represents the two energies that put everything in motion, that make everything happen; they are the essence of life. This is shown in the way the black and white halves of the symbol, although separate, seem to continuous flow and move together as one.
Feng shui colors make up the colors of yin and yang to represent its different energy. Yang is shown as white and yin as black. They cannot exist without the other nor can they work alone, there must always be a balance. In a home, good feng shui energy is needed to attract and support those living inside the home. That is why the balance of yin and yang energy is very important.
The feminine passive energy is yin. This energy yields to the forces that are around it. It’s the energy of rest and relaxation, slow movements, deep darkness, and silence. When one is sleeping at night or relaxing, it’s the dominant energy taking place, helping to recharge energies.
The active energy of yang is also known as the masculine energy. This is the force that keeps everything moving. Yang is a strong energy, vibrant and lively colors and sounds are associated with it. It is the upward energy movement. A home full of people, a busy office, and a lively party all are dominated with this energy.
The family room, living room, and a kitchen are generally the areas that carry the strongest presence of yang energy because they are the most active areas. Having lively colors and vibrant elements in those places contributes to that active energy. Using a lot of media materials and interactive games in those place helps to attract that energy. The balance of yin cannot be forgotten, as that passive energy is needed. Deep colors and comfortable seating areas help to keep the flow of balance.
The passive yin energy in a home is usually found in the bedroom. This is a place where you need that relaxing energy so you can recharge. It is important to get rid of the dominant yang energies that come in the form of TVs, office work, and even exercise equipment. But keep the presence of some of those energies through light colors to balance out the deep colors of yin and some candles. The yin energy in this room should be about relaxation, sleep and feminine sensuality.
A healthy and full life needs to be one that is balanced with good quality energy around it. Feng shui energies are often imbalanced because yang is dominant and there isn’t enough yin for relaxation. Creating a home environment that is harmonious with balanced feng shui yin yang energies is important to attract that healthy and happy life that everyone wants.
